Touring Turkey / Bodrum:

Bodrum... Bodrum...
locals know... people from Istanbul for example... driving ten hours down to Bodrum to spend their summer vacation... there is always this strange - 'hard to explain' feeling as you get closer to this summer resort town:
this may be a life time experience or, maybe not... it is as if when you turn the corner, you are about to see something very important or, the corner may be similar to all the other corners you turn.
The town, especially at night times, is made to feel you this way;
that exotic - bohemian look and the smell... the combination of all the 'in' parfumes, sun cream, spices, the smoke of parfumed tobacco from water pipes and of course aniseed Raki (local drink, similar to Uzo).
The longer the nights are, the more joy there is... looks like noone sleeps till 3-4am...
drinking like crazy ? yes...
the more you drink, the more you loose control ? no, no... of course not ! there are yet a few more corners to turn... there may still be something very important to see !
At the end of the day, locals know... there is always someone you see or meet so, do act accordingly... always behave.

By the way, if you can wake up on time, located 5 minutes walking from the town center, there is this 15th century Crusader Castle to visit, in complete standing - that grounds an Underwater Museum of Archeology with an incredibly rich collection.
And, 15 minutes walking away from the town center, there you find the remains of one of the Seven Wonders of Ancient World; the Mausoleum.
