Touring Turkey / Miletus:

Sometimes, cities are well spoken for monumental structures left behind.
Some other times, people living in such cities are better known than the city itself.

Take Thales (6th century B.C.) as an example, who was born in Miletus...

First philosopher ever of Greek tradition ! read his words below:
" that for which we blame others, let us not do ourselves "

He is widely accepted as the first scientist... trying to find more naturalistic reasons to what were believed to be as 'works of Gods'...
" Earthquakes, we have, not because Gods are angry. Earthquakes, we have, because Earth floats on water, and that earthquates occur when Earth is rocked by waves "

Thales is of course most well known for his geometry & trigonometry studies. He had a very good understanding of similar triangles & right triangles and used this knowledge in practical ways.
He measured the height of the pyramids by their shadows at the moment when his own shadow was equal to his height. A right triangle with two equal legs is a 45-degree right triangle, all of which are similar. The length of the pyramid’s shadow measured from the center of the pyramid at that moment must have been equal to its height. So, it is !

Thales of Miletus was one of the 7 sages of of Greece (philosophers, statesmen & law-givers who were renowned for their wisdom)... lived a wealthy, healthy 80 years of life.
